Layover Life - Rome

It was one of those moments when I needed to pinch myself to fully realise that I am in Rome... Rome, Jodi!!
Walking through the cobbled lanes, and hidden corners, the vivid colours and cute streetside cafes made every moment picturesque. As much as Rome's great monuments, such as the Colosseum and Pantheon, it was in these details that I fell in love with the city.

Rome's streets were bustling with tourists, as the European summer peaked. The Colosseum was truly iconic, and beautiful in its own right. The crew and I had then headed by foot to the Trevi Fountain, where I had made a wish, laughing as threw in 50cents (cheap wish problems). All of the beautiful fountains, monuments and buildings made Rome feel like an art piece.

For this reason, eating at a streetside cafe was the perfect choice. Cheerful crowds walked by, as a sat people-watching. Amongst them, were tiny Smart cars and scooters zipping passed. It was in these moments when time just stopped and I realised I was in Rome. Around me people were indulging in crispy pizzas, with cool white wine. Too finish off, some authentic gelato was needed to stay chilled under the beating sun.
I promise I tried not to shop too much in Italy this time - as the genuine leather bags, and Milan styled clothing called my name from every shop window. However, I did walk away with some extra virgin olive oils, mushroom truffle sauce, some pasta and some iItalian lemoncello (a popular refreshing liqueur)... okay, maybe I did shop too much.

I cannot wait to return soon, as there's so much more I'd love to see (VATICAN city!!!)
Till next time,
Ciao Bella
